My First post
was on :- Friday, January 13, 2006
The comment was:-
So whats to be expected
Nothing. Well, not much anyway. I am a middle aged white male living in Africa. For those of you in my situation, you will know what I mean.
For the rest of you, well, this "situation" will be exposed in my postings, as I go along.
The purpose of this blog is to vent my frustrations, document events, and open up my views on events to whoever wants to know.
Enjoy, ignore, read, or don't. Doesn't matter either way.
And, as wise as these word were then, they still stand!

Followers
According to the thingy I just added to my page, top left hand side list, I have a total of 4 followers - only 2 of which have visited lately. Oh well, 2 is better then none. Any ideas how I can get some more people visiting here?

For some reason
The blog "working page" (here where I type my blog) has again been changed, and it's really fucking unfriendly! Not sure if there is a setting changed in Mozilla, or my computer, or the blog site, but it sucks!

And another thing -
They changed the way the blog page looks (for new posts and stuff) and as usual made a cock up of it. BUT - I found a link that reverts to old format, and it works.
Wish they would stop messing with this thing.

Blogger questions
1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy with this? If you aren't anonymous, do you wish you started out anonymously so that you could be anonymous now?
I am anonymous, and plan to remain so for some time. Having said that, there are some of my readers who know who I am, but they respect my position on this!
2. Describe an incident that describes your stubborn side.
Difficult one this - will have to come back to it.....
3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?
Not much.
4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?
Coke Zero - liters of it!
5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?
Stuff around in the garage, or, go ride the bike!
6. Is there something that you still want to accomplish in your life?
Get back to being self employed.
7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the shy person or always ditching?
I went to school?
8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what do you see.
The last night I spent with my late dad.....
9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog, or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people and events?
I am seriously emotional. Can post stuff about myself and my feelings - but always anonymously! Go read my poems.
10. If you had the choice to sit down and read a book or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?
Read a book! Hate the phone, especially the Telkom fixed line type!
My nominees for keeping the candle burning are :
#
DMD - great blogs - when he posts something!
#
Fishman - another great blogger - when he gets around to it.
#
Jayne - with a Why - cause she reads my stuff, comments, and has great posts too.
All of these can be found by following the links on my page.

Posts
Hi all,
Ran out of steam there for a while, and also didn't really have much time. So my "retro" posts kind of dwindled off, even though I have one half written..... and I haven't even had much time to post any funnies.
However, I keep reminding myself that I owe it to the millions of followers I have out there to get back into this blog. And so, here I am. As I write / type, I am sitting in a client planning session for 2011, it's an all day thing. Boring the crap out of me, but then that does not take much to do anyway. Every now and then I voice my opinion, so they know I am awake, and think I am listening!
So, what's been gong on?
LuckyL is done at the coast. Went to visit his Uncle, Aunt and cousin. That's my "no speak" brother to those of you who have followed this blog for a while. At least he has not extended his fucked up stand with me to the rest of my family, as did my "no speak" sister!! (Yea I know, seriously fucked up siblings! So, who of you come from a perfect family?)
GMan, well, so disappointed in him right now. BUT, I love him, he is my son, and I will always be there for him, but man, when he gets to my age he will think like I do - "If I had made the effort then, I wouldn't be in the position I am now"! So what happened? Well, he dropped out of varsity. Well, that's to say, he didn't even make the cut to sit exams. Not too sure how many classes he actually attended, but hey, that was his option I suppose. Can't be holding his hand anymore - he's an adult now. So, I told hi he needs to get a job, and start paying his way. if he wants to study, it's at his own cost. Hard stand to take, but I have a second son who will hopefully want to study, so I will channel the funds that way. Not too many people get this chance in life, and he had one shot at it - and missed!
So, Princess - she is just so amazing! Doing very well in her job. Keeps the home moving, together, sane. I have no idea how broken my life would have been if she was not part of it. In fact, I thank the Big Guy every day for her! She's adopted some of my attitude when it comes to giving crap back when someone gets on her wrong side. Seriously - she scares the crap out of guys 3 x her size. And it's good. She don't take crap from service providers, has a sharper tongue, and stands her ground so well! Good for you Luv!!
Queenie - well lets just say that the older people get (in this case I can say women, as my mom fits this bill as well), the more difficult they get. I swear they spend hours thinking about crap, and then turning it into a life statement, and then try to pass it of as a good lifestyle decision..... and get pissed off when you call them out, show them it's a stupid call.... ah, fuck it. They just full of shit, and don't realize that their thinking is counterproductive and causes more worry than it's worth.
The Dogs - suffice to say i have a 9mm parabellum that's in need of cleaning. i am not against just putting two bullets through the barrel to clear it. They are so fucked up. Well, one of them is anyway. Eating my fucking plants, chewing up conduit / electrical wiring, car mud flaps.... Damn worst dogs that you could ever get as puppies. Someone said that they grow out of it at 2 yrs. Well, I don;t think these two have a 2 yr lifespan!!!
Cars - so the Princess's car is OK, quite new, on a maintenance plan, still under warranty. GMans car is such a piece of technological shit! VW PAssat - TDI (2.0lt). So what's the problem? Too much computerisation, too many fucking gadgets that keep failing, warning lights for everything, inclusding "There is a bad smell emanating from between your girlfriends legs"...! For fuck sakes. Costing him a small fortune to keep repairing, and VW are master rip off artists when it comes to spares.
Check this out:-
VW - Full clutch replacement, including parts and labour - ZAR 30,000.00 (some change from this). They say the labour is ZAR3,000.00. OK, so parts are ZAR27k.
Goldwagen (big importer of German car spares, from Germany) Full clutch kit - ZAR4,500.00!!!!
Labour - from a friend who runs a small vehicle maintenance shop, and is damn good at what he does, and has the VW software on his computer to do diagnostics and resets...... ZAR 1,500.00!!!! WTF!!!
Headlight globe - VW - ZAR 198.00. Any spares shop - ZAR35.00!!!!
Start to get my point?
My Toyota is tired. I recently looked at trading it, on a Honda Civic (second hand ex-Avis car), but decided that it was not possible financially. So I'm going to take it to my mate (he who is fixing GMans car) and let him go through the whole thing.Radiator tens to overheat every now and then. gearbox still leaks fluid. All the rubbers and wearing parts in from are tired, as are the shocks.
So, I may spend ZAR5k on it, but then it's good again for another 100k / km.
Nuff for now - be back soon.

With thanks to Fishman, a fellow blogger, who has a keen eye for this kind of stuff. Needless to say he has no time for the Malema clown, as do most of us anyway!

Now here's a thing! I regularly visit the blog of a fellow reader, and always enjoy her stuff. Today I tried to see what she's been up to, and found this message:-
And then I clicked on the "Why was this site blocked" icon, and got this:-
So, it would seem that her page has been hacked, and a virus of sorts attached to it. Or maybe via a comment?
Anyone have any ideas?

Fellow bloggers
Had the time today, between meetings and client calls, and internal bullshit, to read the latest posts of some of my fellow bloggers. Some sad one's (Sorry DMDAD), and some ok. One that I think deserves a visit from you all is this one:-
Jayne with a Y - and the post was titled "PERSIL WON'T WASH IN THIS TOWN"
Go have a look at them.
On the western front (now where have I heard that before?), another day, another dime. Same, same. WTH?
Later all

29 09 1020
It's been 2 days now that we don't have any water in the whole area we live in. Rumor has it that there is a major problem at one of the reservoirs. However, there has been no mention on any news on the radio or TV. So, I'm not sure where or what the problem is, but I do know that on the "old old days" this shit never happened. We have 4 massive water reservoirs in our area. In the past, if one was problematic, they by passed it, and used the others, while they fixed the broken one. Whatever the problem. It would seem that with the new dispensation in power, this functionality has been "broken", probably by removing separate backup pumps and valves and stuff, as "it's not necessary", so now they cant do this anymore. So, No cooking, no bathing / showering, no washing of anything, no shitting cause you cant flush, and queues of people at the local garage where the municipal truck is delivering water, and the locals are collecting same in any buckets, cans, stuff they can. Mainly, I suppose, for drinking.....
LuckyL is in Cape Town. Flew down on Tuesday morning with SleepyK and her family. They going to attend a wedding this weekend. They really do spoil that child. Nice thing is he has not been to CT since he was 9 yrs old, 8 yrs ago, so it's a great opportunity for him. At least he will have water!!! They are staying at a B&B located on a wine farm somewhere (from what I could gather), and he sent me this pic last night from his room.
Gman is looking after someones house with a friend, while the owners are away on vacation. Probably means he's out late every night, and getting very little sleep. Oh well, the year end university results will tell me what he's been up to, and then we make the final call on that!
So, me and the Princess went out for dinner last night, and then to a movie. First time we been out to movies for years - must be 5 yrs if not more? This morning she's off to a friends place for a shower before work. Me, I'll just stay at home, get some stuff done, "vuil gat", and see if I can get to have a shower later. If not here, then I'll take a drive to my Mom's place and have a shower there. WTF!
My latest trophy creation is coming on nicely. Just having some trouble getting two images engraved. Was thinking of finding a place that does laser cutting, and trying to get them done there. i think you all will like what I have done. Something different, again. BTW - did you know how cheap felt is? You know this stuff that they cover pool tables with? It's ZAR60.00 per running meter x 1.8 m long/wide. That's damn cheap, I thought.
Anyway, I see that DMDad has re posted something on his blog, for a change. Seems like since he moved to the Mother City he's either living a very full life, with no tome to post, or a very boring life, with nothing to post. Either way, his latest post is good, go read it.
Also, Fishman has been up to things, like camping, and changing banks in protest of a letter they sent out, and other stuff, as has Visserman, and some of my other blogs I follow. See list on the left of this blog.
On the work front, it's still a fuck up. Officially, I still don't have an account set - unofficially I do. But the guy who had this account set before me, is still working it, cause they haven't told him he shouldn't, that he now has a new account set... DUH!?!?! So, we will see what they do come the first of next month. Our target letters are due out, only 3 months late, and the boss says they are retrospective - ie. starting from July 01. "Nice", said me in our first ever communication (oral, not written), "and how do you propose to measure me as I have not been in control of any of those accounts for 3 months?" he wasn't sure, so let him off the hook by saying "We can deal with it on an individual basis".... Poes!!!!!
And, finally, LuckyL's reputation for rebuilding motorbikes is getting around. He's now been asked by a friend of ours to finish a rebuild of a 1964 Vespa scooter, for this guys son. Seems he bought a rusted wreck whilst still in Cape Town, and has done some stuff fixing / respraying / rebuilding the thing. But now that he's living in JHB, he's much busier, and wont get around to finishing it. So, LuckyL's the man for the job.
So, as can be seen by the pics, it's in good nick. Main stand is going to be replaced (we have a new one to fit). There is a leak of engine oil, no problem, we can split the motor and fit new seals / gaskets. We need to drain the fuel supply, tank, and carburetor, as the owner used synthetic 2 stroke oil, instead of mineral, not realizing there is a difference. It's also why he had to change / clean the spark plug every 5 km.... Ah well, LuckyL will have fun getting it sorted. Well, that's me for today. Chat later.....

Posts and times
I have been asked when do I get time to write this stuff, and then asked if it's at work and stuff. Duh! No....!!
I write most of it at night, sitting in front of the TV, and on the note pad. Then I post it (and add photos) whenever I have time, waiting for a meeting to start, in a boring meeting, between calls, etc. There's always a few minutes to be had, and make good use of.
Anyway, that's just in case any of you were wondering....

Interesting function on Blog
Was just looking around and saw a tag on my blog dashboard page that reads "Stats". So I clicked on it.
Nogal interesting.
Here's a page print.
Now more interesting is the fact that you can "drill down" into some of these views.
And get this, you can also select daily / weekly / monthly - all time so as to get different views of callers to your site. What is interesting is how many hits you take via Google, and how many readers are out there who don't leave comments. You can see how many visits were made to specific posts, and you can tell this stats thing not to count your own visits.
You can also see WHO is visiting, and how often. That's quite interesting too. The only downer I suppose is that the tracking only started in 2010 Ma, so no stats before then.
Anyway, thought some of you might be interested.....

You can also see WHO is visiting, and how often. That's quite interesting too. The only downer I suppose is that the tracking only started in 2010 Ma, so no stats before then.
Anyway, thought some of you might be interested.....

Bloggers book
So how many of you have ever thought of making a book of your blogs? Or parts of it? Well, now you can, and it's quite cheap too. I have "run" the poems on my blog through this option, and will do the same for the SADF stuff, but not sure if I will have them printed yet. Also, I want the poems on one page each, and can't seem to get the thingy to do that yet.
If you interested, even just to see whats there, here's the link - Bloggers Book.
So when you get there, you can do a dummy book without registering, or, like me, register and get it over with. I then did a book selecting the Label "Poem", and only a few unrelated posts came through with all the poems. i probably have the loink in them for some other reason anyway. But you can then edit the stuff that is linked, as well as select a front and back page, and do a dedication and all kinds of stuff. Quite clever, and neat.
Now if I can just get someone to sponsor a copy for me.......
