So, what have the gods in store for us for 2010? Does it really matter? Do we really want to / need to know? I don't think so, cause we can't do anything about it anyway.
FIFA world cup is coming to South Africa. Whoopeee - NOT! It will expose us for the criminal country we are. There is no measure for the number of tourists who will be mugged, robbed, raped, murdered..... and I'm not overstating it.
My boy, GMan is going to start at uni, we hope anyway, and LuckyL is going to grade 11. The Princess is up for an increase in salary! As for me, I'm still on PIP (Performance improvement plan), as satans daughter, who doubles as my manager, is fixated with trying to get me out of the company. I have met all of her expectations to date, but with the PIP measurements being subjective, I'm not holding my breath!
I'm expecting a good commission cheque end of February (It takes 2 - 3 months for this shithole "leading IT company" to process the stuff!!), so that will help to take some of the pressure off the bank balance. But it's short term, I really need to get into a place where I earn more, and take less strain doing it.
I'm still planning a road trip, and hope that I can afford it soon. Really need to get out, get away, from the stress of work. Not too sure I want to be away from the family, but I think they will understand. problem now is, do I go with my bike, or do I take the new one we got for GMan?
turning 50 has been a big eye opener for me. I have realised that I can't do all the things I used to. The body does not take the abuse too well, and I get serious lower back pain when I do stuff that 5 years ago was no problem. But, nothing that medication wont sort out (mask!).
I'm expecting the devil to move me off my current account set as well, as she does not like the idea of me working alongside PK. Not too sure why, but she would do it just cause she can. However, if she does, she better be up for negotiation, cause I can't let her set me up again. Fuck that for a joke.
Mom is doing great, but I think this coming year will be harder for her. Her best friend now, a nun!, Sister Margaret, who is as old as she is (give or take a year) has been told she must move to harare to take care of the convent up there. They have a couple of new nuns and they need guidence! Do me a favour, this lady has given more than 50 years to the cause, and deserves a break. There is no intelligence in this decision! Anyway, it means Mom is now kind of alone, even though she knows a lot of other people, but they not friends like Sister is. Also, she's getting a bit too old to drive, and she knows this. So, maybe it's the year we get her to move to a smaller place, where she may get some assistance with daily chores and getting around. Let's hope she decideds it's time to.
Queenie is still happy living in the flat on our property, and we still happy to have here there. No problems with this arrangement at all. She still drives well, goes to bingo at tha casino once a week, and apart from not having many frineds, seems content with stuff.
LuckyL has decided that when he gets back from his vacation, he and the Princess are going to get two new puppies. After we had Kaiser put down, and with Snoopy now 16+ years old, we probably need 2 new dogs. It's just going to be a pain training them not to go out the gate, to shit on the lawn only, and to not eat up the cars / plants, front door, motorbikes.... Eish, I'm not too sure I can do this again! And to top it all off, they (the rest of the family) have decided they want 2 x boerbulls! (LIU). Damn, they eat a ton, and shit small mountains!!!
Anyway, that's the summary for the current state of affairs. Hope the new year is more inspiring. Haven't done any poetry lately, but there have been no mitigating factors driving the juices in that direction.
In closing, i read in the papers that our esteemed president, Jacob, Showerhead, Zuma, is to marry his 5th wife! And now, I understand the 6th is online as well. She works for the same company I do, and has his child! 4FS!!!!

So, as 2009 dies a slow and timeous death
we are reminded that it's only the passing of another year in the life of.....x. Yup, so much has happened to so many, and so little has impacted on life overall. It's just another day , another month, another year. No matter.
Many will say they glad it's over and done with. For many, myself included, it's been one of the harder years in my life. Financially possibly the most challenging, and with no respite in sight.
The boys have come through another year of school, for GMan, his last, and now it's off to varsity. For LuckyL, well he has 2 to go, probably the most important 2 of all 12, and it seems he is peaking at just the right time. The Princess has a new job, which she is enjoying immensly, and is up for a increase in January, as her boss said he didn't realise how much pressure she would be taking off of him, so he says she's worth more, and will review her salary soonest!
For me, it's just a roll over of the crap I have been putting up with for longer than I care to remember. It's just a shit place to work, and as soon as I can get out of here the better. I'm managing, only just, to makie the monthly committments, but it's getting harder every month, and commission payments are becoming less frequeent, what with the company stuffing up th eprocess, no one wanting to take ownership of the fact that our commission payments are wrong, and then taking 3 months to pay whats due anyway....
My new manager, Satans Daughter, is still around. Can't see them replacing her too soon - she seems to be able to work her way around every situation and get away clean each time. But no fear, the wheel turns, and she will get her due.....
This year I had to put Kaiser, our white German Shephard down. Also, I had to bury Witness, my reliable and trustworthy old gardner. There were a few more RIPS's and quite a few posts on trouble at work.
Motorbikes featured big in my blog, and will probably continue to do so for a while.
Lot's of crap with the car this year, and in fact, tomorrow I got to get it in to the shop for the front suspension which sounds like it's falling apart! had to come to work with GMans car today because of this, oh, and to have his exhaust rubbers replaced. We managed to sell his car yesterday! and will hand it over on Thursday when the guy comes with the cash. Now he's looking for a replacement car, an upgrade. He's managed to put away a chunk of money so he can look for something newer, and more economical. Good for him. I'm stuch with my now 10 yr old Corolla, 1600i automatic, which has done over 200000km.....!
Queenie is doing fine, even if she gets more cranky as old age creeps in. My mom is also doing great, and considering that she turned 78 this year, is fantastic. Still drives herself around, lives alone (cause she insists on doing so), and manages her home. Keeping an eye on her as I don't think she will be able to do so for much longer though.
My brother has had an up and downn year, and is currenly off till the 13th Jan on medical leave. Had another stone in the kidney (4th time?) and this time thay put in a stint, which is causing bleeding if he moves aroufd too much, so he has to stay home, and rest as much as possible. Also, his brother in law reneged on the payments for the car brother had signed surety for, but we found it, had it repossesed by the banks people, then I released it from the auction pound for him, and now it's at my place waiting for delivery to Richards Bay. The upside, I suppose is that it's still in very good nick, and his daughter is now learing to drive, so he will have a car for her. And the Opel Corsa is a economical car to run as well.
Don't suppose I'll post anymore this year, so better I finish off with this:-
To all of you who read this blog, regulary or otherwise, and to anyone who may stumble on this page by accident, may you all be blessed (by whatever deity you believe in). May your wishes for 2010 be realised. Peace to you all, your families and friends.
To all of us South Africans, may we be protected from the evils of this society we live in. May economic prosperity touch us all, and the hardships of life be restricted to affect the ragheads and communists!

Merry Xmas to everyone!
May you all be blessed with peace and safety, prosperity in 2010. May you and your families be protected from all that threatens our lives on a daily basis.
My Xmas is going to be different this year. Finances are bad, very bad, so spend is minimal. No presents for the Princess or the kids from me. Princess bought the kids and family presents, as she got a bit of a bonus this year.
We going to be spending the day with family, my mom and her mom included, at her nephews house. It should be fun.
Yesterday I did what was the most exciting thing for me this Xmas. I went to the local grocery store, and bought a couple of shopping bags full of stuff, made up two hampers, and took them down to the squatter camp where I gave one to Witness's widow. The other was for Sara (refer to my posts on Witness) but she wasn't there. Her neighbours said that she had gone "home" for the holidays, so I'll keep it here till she gets back and then take it down to her.
The look of joy on the widows face when she a) saw me pull up, and b) when I told her I had a Xmas hamper for her is what Xmas is all about. Never mind all the fancy food, drinks and expensive presents that will do the rounds today. She was extatic about two bags of groceries. A little guy that came over to carry the stuff to her room came back to me with a big smile - she must have said something to him in their native language which I didn't catch, but you could see he was chuffed. So I called him over, and asked if he's also having Xmas, and he beamed a big yes, with great nofding of the head!!! I looked over to his mom, and asked if I can give him something, and she nodded yes, so I slipped him a note, and said he must go get a little chockie for his mom for Xmas. Massive excitement and big grin!!!! It's actualy so sad. But gratifying, as in their poverty they have learned to appreciate so much a small gift of any sort. That's where the Xmas spirit is found. Amongst those who celebrate with their hearts and not their wallets.
SO, to all of my readers here (all 3 of you), I wish for you the appreciation of Xmas for what it was / is meant to be. I wish for your the gratitude of small gift which come from the heart, and not the wallet, and I wish for all of you that you may experiance the joy of Xmas as I did, yesterday, in a squatter camp amongst the poorest of the poor.

On vacation
From when we left for our holiday, I kept a day-2-day diary of the events. My intention was to post it here - like a lengthy novel (a la DMDad style) for all of you to read.
Having just added the final days stuff, and reread it I thought "Why the F would anyone want to read this?". So, I'm not going to post it. Suffice to say we had a reasonably good time at Forest Lodge, although I am going to lodge a complaint with RCI - more on that later, and a damn good time at my brothers in Richards Bay. We got back home last Sunday (just before New Years) and put together a New Years party at our place - with most sleeping over. Stayed up till 5 am - so I'm not to sure why we went to bed anyway.
More later.
