More and more web sites are now being blocked by the corporation. A typical "Big Brother" type of control. I find to day that I can't open Facebook on my PC / Laptop at work anymore. Not that I care one way or other, as I have full access to it from my BlackBerry, and usually use that anyway. it was just interesting to note that it is now a blocked site. have found more over the past few months. Another one is the national lottery site for SA, www.nationallottery.co.za.
So, I just spent the past 10 minutes cleaning out my bookmarks, and sent all those I want to keep to my personal email address. These I will add to my bookmarks on my private laptop at home, and use them from there.
I fully understand the corporation wanting to manage how much 'private" use there is on company assets, I know and understand the concept of "lost work time", and the cost of data transfer / broadband, etc., but I don't think that this action will really save them much. But, it's their option. I have no problem with it.
What will happen now is the following, (and this from a colleague), instead of logging on from home to do "private stuff", like Facebook, and at the same time churn out some work, answer a few recent emails, finish of a proposal whilst online, users will now log onto their network, and update / work on their private stuff, and leave the work stuff till they get to the office, tomorrow.
No work after hours. Lose lose?

For a while now I have been finding FB very useless, and today, I shut down my page. First I deleted all my photo's, albums and all. Then i removed all my friends, and then I shut it down. So although I know it's stii "there" so to speak, it's useless, and would be too much of an effort to recreate.

Is your Facebook page safe?
OK, so my Facebook page got hacked again. And again, it was mainly to steal my poker chips (2.5m). Not that it's a big deal. However, the fact remains that some little clown from Indonesia has the capability to hack into my page, and steal my chips. So what's the problem. The problem is that today it's some little clown stealing poker chips, tomorrow it's some little clown stealing identities. Facebook do not engage in email discussions. They can / do block you page without telling you why, or taking up a discussion around it. It could be cause you said something like "F&%k FIFA - let them f*&k off to that shit hole they call home", and someone doesn't like it, and reports you for bad language, and they block your page. FOREVER!
Zynga Poker, the owners of the poker application which runs on Facebook don't give a fuck either. Try to find an email address for them that you can contact them on! Try and find any email address that you can report the identity of the hacker to. Not even Yahoo cares, and this poes is using a yahoo id. It would be very easy for them to block his access, as well as any further access to their site from his Internet id address. But why should they. It's all about numbers after all.
Imagine what a serious hacker, and spammer, can do with the information available on your page?
So my issue is not with the clown that took my poker chips. They cost nothing, and have no monetary value at all. My issue is with Facebook, and Zynga games, in that they make no attempt to close the loopholes that these hackers are using, and have no commitment to their users.
On this basis, I will be shutting down my Facebook page, after deleting as much information as possible. I know that some will always be there, and a clever poes can probably find what I have deleted anyway, but hey, let's make it not worth his while to do so!
To Facebook, and Zynga, at every opportunity I will repost this post to ensure that as many people out there get the message. if it does nothing other than get you to upgrade your security, then it will have been worth while!
So, go through your privacy and account settings. If anyone is "monitoring " you, they may have inserted either an "alternative" email address, which means they get all the notifications you get, including password change confirmations! Also, they may have inserted an "alternative" phone number, which means they will get sms notification of any changes. I found both!

And some of the comments made were:-

Harrasment - and me.....
So, I have a few friends and family on facebook. I also have the kids of some friends linked. Special kids, dear to me.Two of them (sisters) are studying at Uni far from home. I keep in touch with these girls as they truly are dear to me.
Herewith the latest Facebook post from one of them:-
Herewith the latest Facebook post from one of them:-
same guy keeps phoning me @ 4am in the morn! i dnt knw him, so i hang up & he kps phoning-had 2 hang up 17 times ths morn, & he stil ddnt gt the pic! had 2 turn me phone off 2 get him 2 stop! i must say, im freaked out :(
Herewith my comment:-
Does his number show up? If not, ask dad to get hold of your service provider, and tell them to pull a report. They will be able to see the nukber. The n we can go kneecap him. I'm serious!
And her dads comment:-
Do u see his number if so give it to me
And then I get this sms from her dad:-
Just spoke 2 the kaffir 2 numbers 078 047 0061 nd 076 564 1276 ur turn.
So I call this fucker. And I warned him that if he ever calls this young lady again, I will hunt him down and kill him. He said something about being sorry - wrong number - what what, I said fuck you, no one dials the wrong number 17 times at god knows what hour of the morning by mistake. Final warning - I will find you and kill you.
Then I call the second number. It's the same cunt! So, I repeat the warnings, now I'm seriously pissed off cause you don't make the same mistake with two different phones (according to me!) Last warning you fuck - I will feed you to my dogs!
Then I called my mate back, and offered to try and get this kaffirs name, ID Number and address, and he said ok. Thats the easy part. We also agreed to call hi again in a few hours, and again maybe in the morning - say at around 3 am, 4 am.....
I have a Lebanese friend who is so connected he can find any information he wants. These numbers will go to him, and I am sure I will have all the kaffirs details by noon. Any one of you out there have fuckall to do today, call this doos, and give him a warning too. My pleasure!!!!

Facebooking and wasting time
Some of you will recall that a few weeks ago, for some unexplained reason, the powers that be closed down my Facebook page. An email to my private email address confirmed that I had "Broken one of the rules" and so they had shut the page down. There would be no further discussions around this, and they don't tell you exactly what you did wrong, and they don't respond to emails.
Oh, what to do????? Easy, open a new Facebook page, using a different email address, (free mail address) from another site. And viola! within a few hours you are back up and running, can go and re invite all your friends, leave out the one's you didn't really care for first time round, and your back in business.
And thereafter, you start to spam the Facebook administrators.Every time i log into my email, I resend the original email requesting an explanation from them. They don't respond, but hey, I don't really care anyway. Someone has to open, read and delete my email, at least 17 times a day. Go figure, you would think they would explain themselves and hope I would go away.
I know what you are thinking - the email is going to a machine that just ignores my mail, or they have me ticked as spam, and my email goes straight into a spam folder anyway. That's fine. i don't care one way or another. Just feels good knowing I'm bugging someone / something somewhere.
So how about this Facebook thing anyway. Any use to anyone? Other than finding out most of the "pretty / popular" girls that were at school with me are now fat / ugly / 3 x divorced, and that most of the guys I remember are either dead / fat / 3 x divorced, the most time I spend on it is to play Texas Hold'em Poker! Go figure. And it's not even for money! That, and keeping upto date with who my boys are dating right now (LuckyL has been dating the same girl forever, but GMan's been a bit out of sorts lately with the girls, and I'm hoping to spot a special person in his "new friends" soon.
The Princess posts some stuff every now and then, and has more friends online that I have in real life. But otherwise, it's basically a useless tool, and I don't give it much time anymore. Main reason for having a presence there is because I can. Just cause those clowns who administer the site decided to close down my first page.
So, I keep blogging, hope you all (except those bloody Chinese) keep reading and commenting.

So, my account on Facebook has been disabled. Apparently they can do this, and you have no recourse. If some dumb doos on the other end of the service does not like something you have posted, they disable it, and that's that. This is the email I got after I queried the disablement:-
Hi,
You were disabled because you created or posted content (i.e., photos, groups, shares, etc.) that violated Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
Types of content that are prohibited from Facebook include, but are not restricted to the following:
• No nudity or other sexually explicit content
• No content that contains hate speech or directly attacks an individual or group
• No content that contains self harm or excessive violence
• No content that contains illegal drug use
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to reactivate your account or respond to your email directly. This decision is final and cannot be appealed. You can visit the Warnings section of the Help Center for more information:
http://www.facebook.com/help/?topic=warnings
Thank you for contacting Facebook,
The Facebook Team
All very well, I suppose, but you would think that they could tell you what you did wrong? Was it my threat to that little poes that's been giving my friends daughter so much grief? I threatened to dismember him - and used words like "Unleash satan's wrath"..... Or was it my post re the French team and manager - where I told him to take his team, and kak attitude, and fuck off back to that shithole he calls home?
I don't know, but have emailed them again to try and find out. Either way it's no real issue, withing th next few hours I will have a new page up and running, using a different email address. I mean, do they really think that I can't go under the name of " Doctor Feinstein" or some other stupid alias?
And then I'm going to start a group called "How can Facebook just disable anyone's page?"
And I will invite as many people as I can find. And I'm sure they will block that site too, eventually. And so what? For fuck sakes guys, do you really think it matters that much to not have a Facebook presence???
So, in case any of you were 'friends" on facebook with me, I have not deleted you, neither have I "hidden" my page, it's been sabotaged by those within.... HEHEHE!!!

The number of so called applications coming out of FB, is frightening. Can you imagine the amount of effort and brain power and computing skill going into it? And mostly it's useless.
I was considering opening a second FB under an assumed name, and just adding applications, as many as I can find / attract. However, I'm sure that the refresh time will be so slow as to render the page basically useless.
What I do now is, if I get sent one with a hidden message / gift, whatever, I open, accept, read and delete it straight away.

Old friends
Over the past month I have "met" up with some old "friends"! Through Facebook, two friends have now found me, and we have "chatted" a bit on line. It's crazy to think how this damn thing is actually working! People you might not have given a second thought about in 30 years are still out there, and remember your name, and find you.
Well, if nothing else it brings back some good memories, i.e. not all that happened to me in my youth was all bad!
Not that it was, mind you, but it does enhance the good memories.
An interesting "group" is the one set up for the town I grew up in. Now there are a bunch of people I have never met, and many who, even though they enjoyed growing up there, will never go back! Interesting.....
And then some who must be the kids of those guys I used to hang with.... Boy, do I have some stories for them!!
