Another passing

It was with sadness that today I learned of the passing of a client / friend.
We met through my job when his company became our client, and I was in charge of the business we did with them. A very demanding, yet fair fellow, with a deep sense of responsibility, and understanding of whet he was required to do, and did it with a passion. About 6 months ago his first child, a girl was born. At about the same time he was diagnosed with cancer of the heart!? A very, very rare occurrence. Some weeks ago he updated me that they had given him 2 days to 2 weeks to live. He'd made it past a month.
They had stopped the chemo treatment, it was unsuccessful, and he was now on some other meds which had shown some success in other difficult cases. Last night he lost the battle.

Rest in Peace Mario. I am so sad for you, and your wife and child. Life is not fair, and in this instance even more so. You could have been such a wonderful dad, and would have raised such a beautiful child.

PS - makes me realise how fortunate I am to have crossed the 10 yrs as a survivor......

How sad. At least he had time to say goodbye to his loved ones. I guess in light of this story you are very fortunate to be a survivor. This type of experience changes somebody's life forever. Good for you. :)

I found out the other day that my French ex-brother-in-law has about a week to live. He was very suddenly struck down with cancer that has ravaged his body, even going into the bones. He is apparently in and out of a coma.

It's especially sad as we were sitting together having a beer in Woodmead Baron only a few months ago and he appeared to be in the peak of health at 42yrs old.

They lost their father to HIV just over a year ago too, which makes it a double blow to the family.

Sometimes, life sucks...
