Most "people" welcomed this action, but not those who have any understanding of the impact it will have on out economy, the view on South Africa from the rest of the world, and the fact that this is just another move on the part of the ANC to get the charges pending over Zuma's head to go away. Time will tell, but I think this stinks (not that I give Thabo any credence), but because I think there is more to come. Thabo's brother, a political analyst, and one who regularlt took Thabo to task, has said it's a step closer to "civil war" from here.
Rumour has it that Thabo and some of his cronies may be planning a breakaway party, and in doing so could cause a split in the ANC. Now this is good! However, it's just a romour for now. And I don't think it will break the ANC up enough for a serious challenge as the ruling party. However, if it's a close call, and there is some discussion and agreement between the smaller parties, thetre is a chance, however slim, that the ANC could be unseated. Ahh, history in the making.

Some newspapers say he resigned while others say he was kicked out. On CNN yesterday we saw a very stupid Zuma reading some speech. He kept bungling it and laughing. A very different educational background than Mbeki. Resignations all over the place. The value of the rand is going down... God save SA!
lets just say he was pushed. However, it was done democratically, as was the election of his interim replacement, and the other MP's who needed to be replaced, moved.
We're not too happy with the prospect of the shower head buffoon coming in next year, but he is a player for the poor and might just play the right game.
Time will tell. What this latest event has shown is that in the event the president does not deliver / perform, the party is willing and able to recall him.
