Various updates - cause it's Friday

So, it's been a busy week, and we had a public holiday on Wednesday. Thats just what we need in a normal week, A mid week break...
I've started to put "stuff" into the bar display case. Still more to come, I'm just either struggling to decide what should go in there, or struggling to find the stuff that's been in storage for so long that I want to put in there.
This space is filled with the kids sports and academic trophies.

But there's no rush, other than I want to get the glass guys out to finish the front.
The top shelf has a cigarette lighter collection. Not the disposable crap. Real, good lighters.
The second shelf is home to a collection of odds and sods (see, I can't throw anything away!), some mini plates from various countries, a pair of those clapper things the spanish dancers use (from Spain).
In the back ground I have placed the small frame mounted coasters, that way I don't have to make frames for them! and they make a good backdrop to the display!

As I said, Wednesday was a public holiday, heritage day I think, and it was also national braai day. And so braai we did. For a change I made a wood fire (as opposed to a charcoal / briquettes fire) and I'm convinced the meat tasted better!
In fact. I'va had a chat to a mate who owns a game farm, where some years back they did a lot of bush cutting (removing foreign trees, and making open areas for grazing game) and he says next time he goes down he will bring back a couple of bags of dried out fire wood. For me it's cheaper than chrcoal, and I'm sure makes the meat taste better!

A "slab" of Karoo lamb rib - bliksem but it's nice!!! (LIU). I'm hoping to go down to the farm in Koffifonteint again next week. Will have to phone ahead and oreder two sheep.....

As is usual, I managed to scoop another pic of an official police vehicle breaking the law. Check this out. 3 Plainclothes monkeys in the cab, not one wearing a seat belt, and no number plate on the back!

Schools are out today, for a week or so. Short break before the final quarter. LuckyL has already brought home his marks, and if they are correct he has truly made a massive improvement on what were already respectable marks. I'll post his results as soon as I can confirm them agains his report card. He also leaves on a "camp" tomorrow morning with some of the other boys from school, and 2 or 3 teachers. They are off to the Drakensberg, for some fun, orienteering and stuff. Included is painballing! And a 18km hike. He is so stoked to be going. Hope he behaves, as I think this could be a leader into a leadership position....

GMan has the sulks. He was hoping to go with some buddies to Sun City on Saturday for the big Spring Festival party. Not going to happen. His buddies are still too young, it's a long and dangerous road, there are going to be a million zillion people there, they have no where to sleep, so plan to party till they get thrown out, then catch 40 winks in the car, and drive home after. Sorry my boy, not going to happen. I tried to get accomodation at the resort for the night, and would gladly have taken him there, but it's fully booked.

This coming weekend is already fully booked. Witness has to finish sealing the upper balcony. Then he has to finish paining the driveway retaining wall. And I want to make some repairs to the deck table, start making some of the frames for my coaster collection, and want to initiale a revival project on an antique desk.
What? Hey, it's my antique desk, and if I want to revamp it I will!!!

Dude...send the cop bakkie photo to eBlockwatch with a list of details (date, time, location, no seatbelts, etc). They'll pass it onto the top cops and through the vehicle number (NP43) will be able to determine if it was supposed to be where it was...bastards.

Bar's looking good...I suppose the wetting party is going to happen after we bugger off to Slaapstad?

OMG I think Glenn (my husband) and you must be twins separated at birth. He has built a bar in the past similar to yours and he too is a big collector of mini bottles, lighters, trophies, pins, swizzle sticks, corks, wine and beer glasses, etc. Except he never dusts anything (cough, cough). He is Scottish by descent with a bit of Irish but no Italian blood. I think you are very talented and should look into a career as a window displayer. :)
