After me and both the boys were savaged by Kaiser, trying to get eye drops into his eyes, I went out and bought a muzzle. Didn't work. It was too small for his face / head, and it hurt him when he turned his face away, scratching his nose, drawing blood.
So we decided to let him be for now. The one eye was open (unseeing) the other held closed, so at least the drops were easing the sensitivity in his eye to the sunlight.
Sunday morning I was at the vet asking for meds that would calm him enough for us to be able to administer the eye drops.
He gave me 4 Valiums. Supposed to give him all 4 in one go. I gave him one, an hour later one more, and 30 minutes later the other 2. Eventually he was chilled out. But still no access to his eyes. At least he wasn't biting. I managed to to temp him with some bread, pulling my habd upwards, so he followed the smell, and then LuckyL managed to get some drops into the other eye!!!!!
This morning I was back at the vet. No go. No more Valiums. Not good for him they say.. I suppose so.
I bought a soft / material muzzle for us to use for now... I really need to get those drops in his eyes, even if it does cause him some stress. He's had me and LiuckyL in tears at least 3 times this weekend (due to our sensitive natures.....).
However, he did tell me about a vet eye hospital! Found it on the net, and am hoping to get Kaiser there asap.
Maybe, just maybe he has not got Pannus, and then they can sort it out. However, the chances are he has got just that. Anyway, going to get him there and they can advise us.
In the mean time, I suppose I need to get another dog. With Kaiser and his blindness, and Snoopy who's about 15 human years, and deaf as a doornail, our security measures are under serious strain!!!!
So, anyone out there have any ideas? Easy to raise / manage / train dogs. Not supceptible to diseases and stuff. Placid and loving yet killer instinct when required (as per Kaiser).

The lead that you walk them with makes for a good muzzle. I would have given Kaiser two Valiums and popped two myself. The Vet in Fourways is brilliant, expensive, but who cares when it comes to our adopted children. He once removed a splinter from one of Wanda's Cats.
How a splinter got into the cats eye is up for debate.
I tried the leash... he gets so angry he claws at his face to get it off, and hurts himself and us.
I bought a soft muzzle as well, but don't really want to have to use it. He gets so stressed man......
Glad u say the hospital is a good place. Trying to get there tomorrow...

On the Dog breed front, get a boerboel. Why? They are the only local breed, very placid, friendly and forgiving to the members of the family. They are also quite intimidating clocking the scales at over 60kgs +. The main attraction is the selective breeding process they went trough to guard the family. Any dogs that did show aggression to the family was shot and replaced. One drawback is that you need a Frontloader to clean up after them. And as a last point buy pedigree pups.
