And 10am saw us all, as parents of the touring hockey team, at the international departures side of the airport. Much hugging and warning of kids was going on. Checking, and cross checking that they all had everything they needed, ensuring they understood the need to behave when they got to the other side.... etc. etc. etc.
Anyway, they went off, and this morning I got an sms with their cellphone number contact, which means, if nothing else, they got there, safely!
To say that the boys were excited is an understatement. They were ecstatic! Imagine, being 16/17 years old, and off to Malaysia for 2 weeks with 17 other boys, a really fab. coach (and a teacher). Away from Mom and Dad, nagging siblings..... plying some hockey against what is arguably on of the top hockey playing countries in the world... and time to explore a new country (2 actually, Singapore and Malaysia), and discover new foods (I hear they eat dog), new people, (them that are dog eaters) and even new environments (it rains a lot and humidity is 90%+).
I am sure they will have a blast while they are there. And hopefully all will return safely, much wiser for it!
Salagatle!
