More poor service, nay, CRAP service

This morning I had the displeasure of having to visit one of our local large hyper stores. Game stores is a big retailer, and every week they run special discounts on various items. As it turns out, yesterday Queenie's 20 year old washing machine packed up. I recommended she just replace it as parts and spares probably won't be available, and anyway, one these things start to break, there is normally a flow of failures.

Game has a nice top loader on special this week, and it's just what she wants, so she draws the money and asks me to get her one. No problem, except I don't like Game as I always have a shit experience when I shop there. Anyway, I go to one of their larger stores, in what is considered an upmarket area, thinking maybe, just maybe, I'll get better service there.

Well, was I disappointed. I don't know if it because it's all papvreters on the floor, and they don't even have the basic knowledge of product, and no training on customer service and satisfaction, but I didn't buy the item. I have just sent them this email via their web page.

Once again I have had the displeasure of trying to buy something from a game store, this time at Cresta. Your weekly special started 01 Nov. Today it's the 2nd, and guess what? Oh sorry sir, we still waiting for stock. When can I have it, oh maybe Monday or Tuesday, we will call you. Crap!!! I cannot believe how your business capitalises on the apathy of the South African consumer, where they are quite happy to pay now for something they might get Mon, or Tues! I'm better off going to Hirsch stores, where they are quite happy to meet your prices, and have stock ON THE FLOOR, not in some obscure warehouse somewhere. I refuse to ever shop at your stores again, in fact, I am quite willing to pay the floor price of the product at ANY other dealer, just for the convenience of having it available immediately. Why should I have to come back a second time when you decide to get the stock to collect something I had to pay for 3 - 7 days before. it's rubbish, and the only reason you get away with it is because the general shopper knows no better, or is so apathetic they think thats business as usual.
I think a letter to the press, again, is overdue!
if it wasn't that my mother in law asked me to get this washing machine for her, I would have never crossed your doorway.

A few years back I went to their Westgate branch, to buy a circular saw they had on special. There they also didn't have stock. When I inquired I was told it's coming. I asked to see the manager, who gave me serious attitude. At that time I also lodged a complaint, but that included the problem with the rude manager. I got a call later that day requesting the details of the occurrence. The end of the story was that that manager hand delivered a saw, to me, at my workplace, at his cost. i didn't pay a cent. And rightfully so.

Now I don't expect to get this washing machine for nothing, but I am expecting an apology, which, if I get t, will be posted here.

I remember those stores as well Hyperama. My husband has a short fuse when it comes to getting what he wants and he ended buying all our appliances at Glicks. He met and did business with Ronette Glick. I dont know if these stores still exist but she was very efficient and gave us some really good prices. The worst service we ever got was in a store called Grace in Australia. The saleswoman thought we were American and was extremely rude to us. They sold us a very defective pram. They finally took it back and 2 weeks later gave us another one and realized it was the same one. I hated shopping in Australia. The prices were outragous and so was the service if something was wrong. The best service was in the U.S. Here in Canada it is average but if you complain (and it takes time and effort) you will get reparation. This is my 2 cents worth. Good luck!

Folks...Game, Makro, Dions, et al, all belong to the same holding company...Massmart. It's an old game (no pun intended) of theirs to advertise items, then depending on demand, they order the product or not (I have that from a reliable source who used to work for one of them)...
