On Saturday I asked the gardener (Witness) to start digging the hols for the planned planting of trees down the side of the property. Due to the nature of the terrain (mostly rock / stone) I bought a gwala (LIU), and gave him a pick. I made a jig for the size he needs to dig the hole, and told him to go down about 500mm.
I was surprised that he managed to do as much as he did in one day, although he does not have the correct depth yet, but it's a start. I will fill the holes with water on Friday, and he can then see if he can go deeper on Saturday once the ground had been wet for a day
The first 4 holes.
We want to plant some indigenous trees (African thorn - LIU) and we need to have some soil and stuff in the ground to give the trees a chance at growing.
Salagatle!
