I posted a comment here yesterday but it's not showing for some reason. Did it come through or was it lost? My main points were:I don't normally get involved in this type of debate.Seems you and Anon got off to a bad start by exchanging abuse, which makes it difficult to have real debate and maybe even learn something. Not sure if being an atheist equates with being bad.I also think the main difference of opinion between you and Anon is that you seemed to be saying that the issue was colour while Anon was saying that the issue was about thieving and nothing to do with colour.I suspect these polarised standpoints won't be made better by the comments that have been posted, which is a pity.
DX - You have a point, debate would be good / better. However there is one thing that must be remembered here - this is my blog, and a space where I vent my frustrations / feelings. I don't always come across as politically correct, or racially unbiased, but that's me. In my previous life (current one with 25 years removed) my reaction would have been physical violence, a matter which landed me in hot water too many times.

I wish all of you could see our kids faces and the fear when this all happened !Your comments are your own, one day you will see the other side of the coin when it happens to you and your kids. We got lucky they did not use guns etc...Hope you can say the same, when it happened to you .
Seaman - you are absolutely correct, and the fact that my son, LuckyL has a fear as it is does not help. Living in SA gives one a very different view / outlook on life - having neighbours like Zimbabwe makes us, as whites, very wary / scared. Thanx for your support!!

We live in a country with more people being killed than in a war zone. Unfortunately if you do not stay here there is no way for me to explain to you the constant fear that we live in. So till then I think we will agree that you can’t really make comments on the situation that we find ourselves in.
Fishman, there was a report a few month ago that said there were more murders in SA over a period of time than people killed in the Iraqi conflict over the same period. Makes you think....

oh boy Wreckless...seems you got a fan!for what its worth dude...I'm a proud white racist. So what.. to quote the words of Napoleon, "if I was black I would be for the blacks, but since I'm white, I'm for the whites!"..and any thieving little pekkies I catch up to no good, the only thing that sees them right is a damn freeking hard hiding with a sjambok..finish and klaar! The Afrikaner knows how to keep the peks in check, and its not with mooi praat!
Aunty - what can I say - u call a spade a spade - people may not like it - may not agree - but that's you! keep reading and commenting!

Wreckless your anon sounds a lot like our Pro-RSA person
Meerkat - I need to check that out...... Anon makes sense - if you are outside looking in. I don't believe he's involved in SA as we are, and even though he may have read a lot of stuff - you can't believe all you read.

It looks like I missed a bit of excitement there! I made a post about Kwanzaa (copied and pasted from wikipedia) on SAS and was branded a racist, and now I'm a supremacist simply by virtue of being Christian. Hmmmm, it's very hard to debate when your "opponents" resort to name calling.Would your anonymous poster like to live in a city like Detroit? If not, why not?
J - you always bring a calmness to any debate. - Remember it is written that you will be challanged for your belief! Remember that to want the best for yourself and those you love is not necessarily wrong, even by God's standard.

Well, he said a lot of stuff - please read it in the comments section of my previous post.....
Anon - thank again for the comment. You talk about a lot of things, and some you are right, some you are welcome to your opinion.
I would suggest you follow the Zimbabwe situation over the past 10 years, and then you will see where the fears that the whites in our country come from. And don't say it cannot happen here, because the current government is not delivering on it's promise to the masses, and they are rising in revolt. I'm not sure what you guys get to read wherever you are, but we are daily faced with protests over housing / electricity and water access / corrupt officials. We have a civil service sector, (Home affairs / hospitals and clinics / straining under the ingress of illigle aliens from our neighbours Zimbabwe and to some extent Mozambique. In fact they estimate that up to 50% of the Zimbabwe population are now in South Africa, and of these up to 95% illegally.
Anyway, I thing that debate is good, and that as we go along we make friends / lose friends based on our comments / thoughts / perceptions. To some I am racist, to others, just a shit scared middle aged white male living in a new South Africa.

My comment about Jeannine was simply a response to Wreckless suggesting that Christians were good people and Atheists were in some way bad people. My experience is that some people are good and some people are bad. My experience is also that Christians are more interested in being Christians than in practicing Christianity. As for Detroit, what’s wrong with a great American city like Detroit?

{snip} As for Jeanine, had a look at her blog and guess what, she's a Christian and you don't get much more supremist than that.

{snip} as for Christians, it's no wonder you have the attitude you do, you are either a raghead (read muslim) or an athiest, and in todays world I don't know whats worse, other than to say, you have no say cause you are, as we say here in SA, a fence sitter.

As you’ll see from the above, anonymous was the first to make a derogatory remark based on religion, so his most recent response is a lie. And everyone knows that there are good people and bad people everywhere.
It would be nice if things were so simplistic that we could make statements such as: All white people are good. All black people are bad. Of course we can’t say that because it’s not true.
It may make him feel better about himself to say things like: she's a Christian and you don't get much more supremist [sic] than that. I ask all of you, who’s the real hypocrite here?
Another thing I find interesting is that only whites can be racists. In my country we are being overrun by a group called La Raza, which means simply, the race. If a white person complains about such a thing he is immediately called a racist when it’s perfectly obvious that the people in La Raza are blatant racists. I think it’s all BS and I’m in my forties and really don’t care anymore if people want to call me names.
I’m not living in a delusional world and I don’t create reality, I only say what I see and what is perfectly obvious.
Years ago I was in a microsect group of Presbyterians. One day men were sitting around debating whether communion (the Lord’s Supper) was truly communion if a common cup wasn’t used. I asked a question. If the person sitting next to you had an oozing cold sore and drank from the cup and then passed it to you, what would you do? No one ever answered me, and the topic was suddenly changed.
My point is it’s very easy to speak of lofty ideals but sadly the reality is often much different. This is why I asked about life in the noble city of Detroit. This article is a good starting point: Grocery Closing Hit Detroit Hard
Personally I wouldn’t want to live in a city of that size that can’t even have grocery stores due to the crime rate. Please research the demographics and get back to me. Explain how this can happen.
Sorry for the typo in the headline above. I was having trouble with the html and after retrying four times it will stand as it is. :-)
I take your point, Wreckless. It's definitely your blog but you do invite comment and I merely felt I had a point to make. I'll now stay out of it.
DX - sorry - u misundewrstood me...I don't mind comments, and I sure do want you to visit again. i was merely saying what I did as an explanation for my comments, and to describe what I believe is what I am trying to say, and to ensure that no one sees this as just another anti - black, racist blog
