Some time ago I posted a blog on this site referring / speaking about a new Afrikaans song I had heard. I made some comments around the fact that it seemed to be a "Right Wing" type anthem! It's "De La Rey" by Bok van Blerk.
I wasn't far wrong!! For the past two days it has been the topic of discussion on quite a number of newspapers, as well as on Talk Radio 702!
Seems like it's now being touted as the new Afrikaaner dream for a true leader (cultural) for the Afrikaner youth.

Just listened to it - haunting. He seems to be singing both about the past and then kthe current/ future - I can see why it's possibly being adopted as a "call to arms" by many. I am not sure Bok van Blerk really means for it to be this, though...?
It has also spawned many interesting comments on YouTube - some are so sad that they're funny - specially seeing how in the dark some people are about the situation in South Africa, yet choose to go to print, so to speak, on the situation anyway...
I agree with "solomonster" - one night I couldnt sleep, and spent the whole night reading all 428 (i think there were 428) comments on youtube. It really IS sad that the majority of the comments are from people who dont have a clue - yet choose to show the world their ignorance (and I am refering to people from both sides of the argument). If the internet is a "mirror" of the real world, then our world is in a worse state than I thought...
