Stuff for this week

Last night for the first time in a long time I went down to the club. Sat and watch some one playing the cherry master for a while - she put in a bout R600 / R800 then had to go. I put in R100, and by the time I got down to R50 - I got this full screen, and cashed out R800.
Then I went home.
My brother said in the past week that his father in law, as a retirement fund raising effort, and to keep himself busy, collects old / unused / broken stuff, fixes it, and then sells it at the local auction. So, I took a look around the storeroom and garage, and in about10 minutes I filled the trailer. See above
As well as most of these files - not all - needed to keep some for future use,
And my whole collection of ties, excluding those I kept which I wear - about 10 off. In total about 150 ties were given away!!!
Among the stuff described above were a couple of old wallets, cheque book holders, letter trays and letter openers. Calculators (those little nasty one's you get fro free with Readers Digest promotions), a torch (new), a couple of bed side lamps, not matched, 3 desk top lamps, a whole lot of old plugs, double adapters, old wall plugs....
Some kids toys, 2 camping / garden lamps - both in good working condition.. 2 baskets, a Desktop World Globe, a dozen or so plastic flower pots, and more.

Anyway, if you look in my garage and store room, you can't see I have taken anything out, so next week I'll be dropping off another load, or two.

The bike on a trailer speeding fine saga

So, I went online to the website referred to on the fine, found some contact details and sent off this email:-

Good day,
This weekend I received a fine in the mail. Although the numberplate on the motorbike, which incidentally is the so called offending vehicle, but which, in this photo is actually on the back
of a trailer! - is the same number as that on motorbike owned by me, it cannot be my motorbike.

If you look at the photo, it looks like the back of a bigger bike, a 250cc, or even bigger. My sons bike, which is on my name, is a little 125cc!

The date of the fine is a Tuesday. My son was at school with the motorbike, and I was at xxxx towers, where we meet as an account team, EVERY Tuesday from 07h00 to 09h00. Every Tuesday for the past 18 months. Thereafter we meet with various clients, till about 11h30. This is a reoccurring meeting, and has been for a long time. So that's not me towing the unidentified trailer either.
I must then assume that this motorbike, that was on the trailer is using a false number plate, as xxx 111 GP is the registration for my motorbike, 125cc. I understand that due to the lack of number plates on the trailer, or no visibility of the number plate of the towing (and offending) car, the only trace you may have to this offender is through the bike's number plate - but it's not my bike.
Thanx for your attention, your prompt response will be appreciated.

Detais:-
Infringement notice no. - 02-xxxx-000xxx347-x
Name - X Xxxxxxx
ID - 555 555 55 55 555

And I got this back - within about 1 hour:-

Mr. Joubert, this is a Johannesburg fine. May you kindly assist.

And today this:-

Ms. Botha

Please assist with the query below from Xxx. Thank you

So, it's being sent around a bit - but seem like someone is actually going to investigate this - or at least give it a second look. Will keep you all updated with any progress.
I see in today's papers there is a story on - Speed traps to be outlawed - not sure what it's about, but might check it out online. I don't think that will ever happen, as it's just too much of a revenue stream for the relevant parties.

It's been a while

Since I posted here - but it's not due to lack of wanting, rather due to lack of anything to post. However, those bloggers who I regularly read have been worse than me - and one has done his usual stunt - no posts for a month, and then a 4 page write up. FFS - but he writes well so maybe it's worth the wait.
Another one has once again taken leave - and so wont be posting for a week or so - life is so tough in Africa.
And another has lost / misplaced / been relieved of his PC / Laptop / Mac - and so hasn't blogged for a while. Oh well, as usual, it's up to a few of us to entertain so many.....

I recently went to visit Fishman, who I got to know initially through DMDad, about some wood he's got lying around looking for a use.
And I have a use for them. So we agreed on what I could buy, and the price, and I will be back there at his place at the end of this week to fetch it.
In the mean time, I asked about some other wood he's got there, and he's agreed to sell that to me, if it meets my requirements. This time however, I made an offer - higher than his initial price, as it's good wood (laminated beams) and still cheap at the price, and I don't want him to feel he's been done in or anything. He's actually quite a softy, but I didn't say so!

DMDad has some great posts about the Whales beaching on the coast, and a recent criminal act that he was involved in! (That should get some people takng a look at his blog!)

Back home, the kids are busy with exams, and giving the Princess grey hair cause they just don't put in enough hours studying. But, hey, they big boys now - no varsity due to bad marks, and I enroll them as plumbers apprentiship, I have no problem with that.
GMans car's internal fan isn't working, so Saturday am we stripped out as much of the console and dashboard as we could, but couldn't get to the fan. The switch seems finme, so today he's dropping it off at the auto electricians to look at - and fix.

LuckyL's bike - was again trailered home. He spent Friday night with a friend, and called Saturday morning to say the accelerator went slack on him as he was parking the bike.
SO I went down to cllect him and the bike Saturday am, and as I suspected, the accelerator cable had snapped. So back home I quickly removed it, and he will drop it off at Cable Man today for them to make up a new one!

Then we can rifit all the bits and pieces, both vehicls, and they will be vack in business.

Also Saturday, there was a registered letter slip in the post box. I went to collect it, and turns out it's a speeding fine, for LuckyL's bike. I know what you all think....

It's a pic (photo finish) of the bike, on the back of the trailer!!! The car's reg. is hidden and the trailers back is off to fit the bike, so the only registration number visible on the photo is of the bike. So, I have written to them asking how it os possible for a motorcycle that is being trailered to be fined for breaking the speed limit? Also, the bike on the photo looks like a 250cc or bigger, and my bike is only a puny little 125cc, so I am under the impression that this is a rouge bike, using a false plate, ahich just happens to be the same as mine. Also, on Tuesday morning, the bike would have been at school, with my son, and I would have been at my client since 6.30 am as we meet every Tuesday at that time, and have done so for 18 months.
Lets see what they come back with.

Enuff for now - must do some work too. i know the Princess sometimes comes here to read my rubbish, so must give her the impression I work too - sometimes.
