Interesting

These two fellow bloggers, both clowns in their own right, spent a week or so away, fishing. Not that I expect much fishing took place, but the fact that neither has posted much, or anything about the actual trip, and happenings on this trip, leads me to think maybe they didn't actually go where they claim to have gone.
Much like a friend of mine who, many years ago told his wife he was off to Zambia on business, meantime he and 4 or 5 friends flew to Brazil for a week of Carnival and drunken debauchery! Oh, his accomplices had used the same / similar excuses with their wives! (It all came out one day, leading to one divorce, and a couple of really pissed off wives......)

Anyway, to the two of you, DMD and Fishman, prove me wrong.

And in closing, for today

Saw this on the way to work one morning. The "taxi's" right rear wheel had come off, drive shaft and all! And it's not an isolated incidence. This has occurred before, sometimes at high speed on highways. It's mainly cause these goons prefer to save a dime and try to work on their own vehicles, and might reassemble incorrectly, or leave some useless parts out, like a circlip, a couple of bolts (why put back all 8 diff. bolts, when 2 will do?).
This dude was lucky, as it happened as he was rolling off fronm a traffic light, so damage was minimal. And these are the guys striking because of the threat of the proposed Rapid transit route (busses) and who complain cause the Metro Traffic cops leep pulling them off and fining them for unroadwoirthy vehicles.
Although, on that point I must agree, I would rather have them writing themselves off at high speed on the highway.....

Bad weather

Drove into some seriously bad weather last week, so bad in fact, visibility was reduced to about 6-10 meters, and I had to use the emergency flashers, and pull off the road, for at least 5 minutes. The approaching storm - the scene went from sunny in Midrand, to this view facing Johannesburg.
The guys on the radio were saying it looked like nightfall.....As I hit the rain, I knew this was going to be a big one. The car in front of me put on his hazards, and started to pull into the yellow lane.
So did the car behind me, and I followed suit, confident that at least I has a back buffer in case someone came down the yellow lane at speed....
The view as I stopped.....

Belated wishes

On Monday this week, my "baby" turned 16! Yup, now he can get his license and ride his bike - legally! The fact that his bike is not operational at the moment isn't a problem, as he can only go for his test end of April - that's the first appointment we could get.

Anyway LuckyL, Happy birthday my boy, may you be blessed, and protected as you go into this next phase of life.

Oh, and there's more to life than just bikes.... there's girls out there, sweet smelling, soft to the touch, nice, pretty, beautiful girls..... Enjoy!
