Normally I post something funny here, for Friday's. Maybe not today.
I'm in the office at the clients site. I'm waiting for documents which were supposed to have been done, oh, about 5 weeks ago!! to be released so I can present them to my clients for their review. How many times can you make up an excuse why something is not yet done / available / approved / signed off.... Ask me, at least 37 times in 4 weeks!!! And the client now has more requirements!! For fuck sake - if we tried 50% of the time we could do 200% of the required business in this account!!!!
I went for an interview yesterday. Yup, got a call a week or so ago asking me to please submit my CV. I did. Then I got the call to set up an interview - this took place yesterday afternoon. I sat there and breezed through it - no problem - best of all I didn't even know what job I was being interviewed for till I asked during out chat!!!!
I know I've got what they want. Except for a Degree (LOL - like that's going to ensure sales!). Anyway, if thats their criteria, they don't get to hire me!
When asked why would I want to come and work for them, I gave them some good reasons. However, when Asked why I would leave my current employer - I was stuck! Yea - so I said - better renumeration. Hey, I'm honest. I know what I'm worth, I know the devil I work for now, and if for no other reason other than they can't just fire me, it's worth staying here! But, for the right package, man will I move with speed.
Anyway, I made the next round. I was asked to be available for a meeting next week with the services sales manager(ess)!! I have worked with her before! Some of you (Divemaster Dad) will be surprised to hear who might be my new boss (then again, maybe you wont). In a way I'm hoping my current employer makes me a counter offer - after all I have 10x my target in the pipeline, and should even only 20% of it come through I could earn upwards of ZAR150k in comm at the end of this year. But that's probably not going to happen. So, I may be signing on from a different desk (and laptop) one of these fine days. Boy, who would believe that a Middle Aged White Male could still be headhunted in South Africa in this time and age!?!?
Yo, DMD - keep this between us pls. Don't need the rest of the Fuck Farm spreading the news in case it doesn't come through.
Only problem - it's another American owned IT Company!?!?!

Interesting

It's been a while
since I posted anything here, and will probably be a while before I do again. Things are kind of hectic right now. Work is all fucked up, more than before i took a week's break.
On the home front - great. The Princess and I celebrated 19 years of being married yesterday! Thats a long, long time by any standards, and as things go, we should remain married for a long time to come. Spent a lot of time yesterday thinking about what we have achieved in this time, and it's all good. Damn good!
Apart from our home, we have two magnificent sons, a healthy relationship (hey, we hardly cross swords on anything anymore), financially sort of ok, although it is a bit tight right now.
Her employer has been given an extension of life to try and turn the business around by the end of September. I sure hope they can, but she has put her CV in at to prospective places already. Either one would be a good job, I'm just not sure that she would have the freedom she has now. However, she will be employed, and today thats first prize.
The kids are back at school, and now we wait for their midyear reports (results). I remember when we used to get the reports before the school break. Then my punishment was to be gated for the whole break! Now, the teachers are slower, lazy, and we only get the reports like 2 weeks after school reopens.... What's the point? Ok, so I get his results, and can work on this for the rst of the year, but hey, he's had his break, gone out, had fun...... And it's not like you can gate them during the school term, they not allowed to go out much anyway!
At work, I once again rejected my targets for 2nd half. My manager wanted to meet with me to discuss, but I suggested maybe he wants his manager in on the meeting too. So it seems we may still meet later today. If not, maybe Friday (I'm not available tomorrow afternoon.)
No pics, as I have had to move all of my personal stuff onto a seperate - private - storage device. They have restarted their pc/ laptop scanning process, and if you get found with non company stuff on the machine you get into shit. I don't have the time or inclination to get into it with anyone about menial matters like photos, and private doc's, so I got a 500Gb drive, and wrote everything to that. Only, now I don't have it here with me, so I can't post any pics.
