Coffins For Africa

If you look at my links list you will see I have added another link. It's my latest offering, only just started, and will be my motivation over the next while. Hopefully it will also become my prime source of income before too long.

Another Aprilia RS250

Going home on Tues. evening I was passed by a guy on an Aprilia. I really wanted to chat to him, so I followed him into his complex and stopped behind him. Getting out I introduced myself, and we had a chat about my "basket case" and his immaculate bike. Turns out he's just sold his! Bought it for ZAR19k a year ago and sold it now for ZAR25k. Not a bad return I'd say.
But what was good news is that he has the bikes manual on CD, and so last night I stopped round there again and collected a copy.
This is his bike. It's a 2000 model, it's a real beut, and he's going to be sorry he sold it.

Koffiefontein

We were planning a trip to the farm in Koffiefontein (LIU), see the attached link,(http://www.places.co.za/html/koffiefontein.html), for the next mid term break (that's when the schools close for a week), and we were hoping that my brother and his family would join us. Now it seems they can't. Pity, it could have been a lot of fun.

We have friends who own a farm there, and it's a great place to just chill. Fishing in the river is good, plenty space for the kids to ride their quads / scramblers. Plenty space to shoot with the air rifles... just a great getaway with nothing really to do.

We've been a few times, but never with my boet and his brood, and I think it would have been so much more special if they came with.

So, we might just not go either. It's not that much fun alone...

Today

So, another day, another dime. Spent the morning driving around a local industrial area looking for either a factory premises which may be for sale, or some land, on which I can develop a factory. The Princess's employer needs to vacate the current premises by April next year, and I was hoping that I could get them into property I own, as their rent is nice and high, and cold actually pay for the development. But....

Then I drove through to Vodaworld (LIU) as GMan's cellphone packed up last night. it's still under warranty, so I'm not worried, it's just the hassle of getting there and back.
Now, back at the office, with more crap on the email waiting for me, the boss doing what he does best - nothing, and my fellow worker in the office here still fighting with his girlfriend on the phone.
Same / same.

Oh, and it's my birthday!

Cherry Master

Anyone out there know what this is?

Well, let me tell you, it's 3 winning screens collected over a long time from various Cherry Master machines by various people. Damn what a win!

The garden and rocks

On Saturday I asked the gardener (Witness) to start digging the hols for the planned planting of trees down the side of the property. Due to the nature of the terrain (mostly rock / stone) I bought a gwala (LIU), and gave him a pick. I made a jig for the size he needs to dig the hole, and told him to go down about 500mm.
I was surprised that he managed to do as much as he did in one day, although he does not have the correct depth yet, but it's a start. I will fill the holes with water on Friday, and he can then see if he can go deeper on Saturday once the ground had been wet for a day

The first 4 holes.

We want to plant some indigenous trees (African thorn - LIU) and we need to have some soil and stuff in the ground to give the trees a chance at growing.

Veld Fires

It's still happening. I cannot understand the mentality that says all veld must be burnt during the winter. The last piece of unburnt veld was below our home, and this was burnt on Friday night. Serious flames due to the tall grass, and high winds. Luckily blowing away from our home so we didn't get all the smoke and soot into the house.
And there is a house between ours and the veld, so there was no threat from the fire. But it still pisses me off.

Saturday's lunch / dinner

Saturday we were invited to go for a spit braai (LIU) at the house of the couple who got married a few weeks ago. They had a little porker on a spit. About 18 people were invited and it was a great afternoon evening.

Sorry, someone stole and ate the apple before I could take the picture.

I'm not big on pork (or chicken for that matter), so I had some boerewors (LIU), and great garlic bread, and olives and tons of cheese. However, there was not much of the porker left afterwards, as everyone seemed to be enjoying it.
