Battle at Kruger

This morning on the way to work, the presenter on 702 Talk Radio referred to a video on you tube called Battle at Kruger.
They questioned its validity. Eventually they spoke to the brother of the ranger / guide who was present with the tourists at the event, and will be trying to get him to come on air to comment some time soon.
However, I wonder why we never saw any of this on our TVs, either in the news, or 50/50 ( a wildlife program)

It's 8 minutes long, but worth every minute!!
Enjoy

Our proud Traffic officers at work

Spotted on my way to the office this am. A real life, genuine, no imports traffic cop. She (yup, she) was just sitting there, under the African sky, manning a digital trapping device.

Photo was taken with a Nokia N95 cellphone, Carl Zeiss Optics, Tessar, Autofocus , 5 Megapixel, and the above copy was edited using Adobe, a software which came free with the Nokia software. Anyone found copying this picture without the necessary approvals / requests, filled in triplicate and submitted via an authentic South African Home Affairs office, marked for my attention, will be sent to Zimbabwe for a period of no less than 2 years.

The original photo is below.

La Luta Continua

My latest offering to Vodacom:-

Once again, I hold on for more than 5 minutes, after speaking to someone with -3% intelligence, and who asks me to hold while he transfers me, listening to a piece of loud crappy music, only to have someone put the phone down on me. And I am sure there is no way you can trace the culprit, not that you would care to.
I have received a billing from you for a cell number I don't recognise.
As it is impossible for me to get to speak to anyone of any form of intelligence within your company, I am informing you that should these funds be deducted from my personal account before we have had a discussion on where this number comes from, I will sue Vodacom for theft.

Mom - update

So, some of you will remember that we had a bit of a run of bad luck with regards Mom's health, and that we eventually sent her to stay with my brother to recuperate.

Well, it's been about 2 months, and she's really doing well. So much so, that she wanted to go back home, so yesterday she flew in, my "sister" picked her up, and dropped her off at her house.

Now, there is no way I could even begin to relate the amount of effort and personal sacrifice made by my brother and his family in this regard. To take someone who is ill, into your home and nurse them for 2 months is not easy, even if it is your Mom. It's difficult, financially draining, and mentally and spiritually as well.

They have done a fantastic job. Each time I spoke with Mom I could hear she was improving, so much so that I was surprised she didn't demand to go home sooner. However, she also knew it was much colder here where she lives, and that's not good either. As it is, she has come back just as we enter another cold spell, and when I called her this morning she did say her hip and knee were hurting again. I think this is a combination of the cold, and sitting still in the plane, and car yesterday. But she still sounds positive!

On Sunday, knowing she was coming home, LuckyL and I had gone over to her place, and made sure everything was in order. The house was still clean and neat, as she had left it. We sorted her mail (I took the bills with me, and will settle them), started her car and let it run for a while, made sure it's fuel tank was full, and bought her some flowers.

She's quite chuffed with them!

Princess also went and did some basic shopping for her, and we left all that in her fridge. So all round she's feeling very warm and fuzzy and loved!

Spotted just outside my office window

I don't know how long it's been there, or what type of bird would have built it, but I spotted it today for the first time...

A little nest, right up there, between a couple of branches....
