Just pay me dammit!

So, my boss forwards me a note which came from overseas informing us that one component, the most valuable one, of our commissions will be delayed for 30 days. This means I have to wait till June to get my money. Well, his mistake. I literally tore the flesh off his back (maybe more his ear as it was a telephonic conversation).

Basically, neither he, not his two immediate bosses have the balls to question any decision made overseas. Real yes men. Bow down, be trodden on, and say thank you.

Well, I told him as much, and then informed him I would be emailing said overseas person to question his motivation. Whats he gonna do? Beat me up? Not in this lifetime!!!

Anyway, after slagging him for about 10 minutes, telling him that he's going to lose at least two of his best sales men, he made the fatal mistake of reminding me that we do have a conference call with this overseas idiot, today, Friday, at midday!!! Well then, I'm going to question him, on line, with everyone on line!!! Should prove to be informative, and will be great to see my boss shrink into his proverbial boots.

Will keep you posted!

Donations anyone?

if I can get 150 thousand Americans to sent me USD 1.00 each, I can pay off my mortgage. Man, there has to be a way... maybe I can sell them lion crap..... I can have it moulded into place mats. Or into small blocks, they can then place it on their lawns and scare off all the dogs...

Maybe African Thorn tree seed... there's an idea, then they can grow thorn trees in the same way our dumb arse wannabe Hollywood stars plant palm trees in their gardens here.

Whatever it is, I gotta do something. Working here just because I have a home bond which is tying me down is not on.

Same - same

Same place - different day - same crap!

Got my commission statement for Q1 today. By my calculations I'm due at least ZAR 42k. According to the illiterate bastards who do our comms payments, they paid me ZAR 19k.

Letter to my boss:-
"I'm leaving the office now, (13h30 - 3 May 2007), and will return once you can prove a) the company's calculations are correct, or b) that my money is in my bank account. Until then, I will be on an illegal strike.

BTW - I have not yet been paid for my Cape Town trip. Please check to see why.....

Fuck them!!!

The bar - progress this weekend

As I mentioned in my previous post, we just had a long weekend, and my brother and his family visited, and he decided we should get into my bar. All my "bar stuff" was still in boxes in the garage from when we had packed up at our previous home, so it was in "storage" from about January 2003, and very dusty. Unpacking it all was going to prove to be a real Xmas treat, cause there was a lot of stuff I had not seen for a long time, and some I had forgotten about.
I had already done some preliminary drawings / sketches, and so I just finalised the sizing, checked the cutting list, and we were off to Builders Warehouse (LIU). It's handy as they cut to size, and edge all the stuff as requested (small fee). Then back home, re cut some lengths and mark / drill / screw / install....
Before we started....

I had all my minature showcases in place already, and the fridge was more or less in place. Shelving was needed around the fridge, in the back of the alcove, and this was were we started.

And.... (that's my brother doing his stuff)...

And.... here's the basic framework

And now in place...

At this point it does not look too attractive....

We then, the next day, did the continuous shelving around part of the wall, and the wall plate with cup hooks for all the beer glasses.
Here's a taste....

However, we found that we still had a blank corner, and quickly designed a solution for that. We had the materials cut to size, width only, as the lengths we had not yet finalised, and set about designing as we went along. This was as successful as the previous parts.
The grand finale was unpacking the boxes, and getting all the stuff out, cleaned and displayed, and there we were, with a fully kitted bar, in one weekend. All that remains to be done is the bar counter, but that's another story.
View one... beer mug collection hanging above general stuff collection, above the final corner unit we built...

View two... showing as per view one, and the minature showcases as well as the dart board, and some ornaments hung wherever....

Full view.... it's a seriously busy bar, and it's all mine!!

What a weekend....

It's Wednesday, 2 May 2007. Back at work after a long weekend, and what a break it was.
Friday, 30th April, was a public holiday here, Freedom day (contradiction in terms) and Tuesday, 1st May was Workers day, so I took a days leave for Monday and made a long weekend of it. initially we had planned to go away as a family, but one thing lead to another, and all the plans fell through, and finally we had planned to stay home.
GMan got his bike, and is so chuffed he has a certain amount of Independence now. LuckyL isn't too impressed cause he's limited to riding his bike on the property....
Then my brother informed us he was coming up for the weekend as he had bought some new patio furniture from a guy who lives quite near to me, and wanted to collect same. It's always great having them here, as we get on so well.

We had a great weekend, getting his patio stuff, and doing some serious work on my pub. He's a workaholic, cannot sit still for 5 minutes and slave drove me for 4 days but the outcome is magnificent. I will do another post just on the bar.
We also had a couple of braai's (LIU), and one with my friends from Featherbrooke Estates (LIU).

Here's a pic of his new patio furniture.
