Work in Oz
I recently attended a school function where I met up with some guys I don't normally get to see on a day to day basis. We got around to talking about Oz, and he said he'd been approached to go work there as a 150 ton truck driver!!! He added that they had offered him some obscene amount of money too. Only problem was it's not an immigration opp. but contracting. 3 Months on site, and 2 weeks back home, all paid for. Well, I'm going to do some research, cause for the right kind of money I am happy to go drive monster trucks, in open cast mines, in the Ozzie outback.
More to follow on this.

To Oz, or not
There a seriously pissed off Italian in Richards Bay right now!!!!!!
Regular readers here will remember I posted that my brother was going to Oz for a final interview. Well, his trip was postponed / delayed because the Oz consulate wanted a Police criminal record report before they would issue his visa.
Due to the complete slackness of the SAPS, (LIU), they say it takes 3-6 weeks to get one.
The Oz company called this morning to tell him they were withdrawing the offer, as they had found another person to fill the post.
Damn, but that boy is fuming.
Will be seeing him this weekend then.

Cape Town
Cape Town - The mother city, twixt mountain and sea.
Last week I flew down to Cape Town, compliments of my employer, to do some training. It's only the third time I've been there, but looking down on the city from the aeroplane during landing I suddenly had this feeling that this is a city I could live in!
Now I don't know where this came from, but for the rest of that day, and the next, till I flew out, I kept finding reasons why I would / could live there.
it's actually a very beautiful place. The location is great, the layout of the city, it's history and architecture, all good. the people are very laid back. But it's not this / these things. i can't explain it, but I know that if offered the opportunity, and if acceptable to the Princess, I could / would move.
On the other hand, I don't think I could work there, hence the limitation to the possibility of my move, but then again, that's the kind of place you could retire to comfortably!
Anyway, I had a good trip, and enjoyed the visit, and am looking forward to the next time.
The Princess and I are looking at going down for a long weekend sometime in Mid June.
