If there is one thing that really gets me going, it's bad service. Man, you want to see me at my best! Damn, I go so far as to tell salespeople that they better bring me a manager cause they too stupid to talk to me! And I don't really care oif they get offended, cause by the time I make that statement I'm ready to rip someone's head off!!!
Nothing gets to me like poor service, and you would think that living in Africa for all these years you would get used to it. Well, au contrer, I get pissed off quicker!!
And don't even get me started on late night telesales!!! Damned if they don't get to walk the plank!!
Of the worst service I have received, our Vodacom, a cellphone service provider must rank at the top. Problem with them is, they so big they don't have to care. You can't ever get through to anyone who cares a damn, or who can make a difference. Fuck them. Next time round I'm moving my account.
Then the "sales persons" in our retail stores. If you going shopping for anything from a tin of beans to a bed, new car, dog.... You better know what you want, cause the shithead arsehole employed at the store won't be able to help you choose. All they can do is check if there is stock available, take your money, and give you a receipt, and not always correctly either. There is no training, or desire to get to know more about the different options.
"Excuse me, Sipho, what is the difference between these two TV's"?
"Eish, sah, thees wan ees more ekspnse than thet wan"!
"Yea, I can see that. But which one is better"?
"Eish, eye laik thees wan becose it got naise remot, wif lots of battons!"
"Sipho, there is a 30% difference in price! And you don't know why"?
"Eish, wait I go call de meneger!"
And motor cars dealers. You go and look to replace your car. So the used one you want is priced very close to new. On asking why, you get, "Well, there is a waiting list for new one's, and they are very scarce, so that's the price"!
Ok. So how much will you give me trade in on my good as new, low mileage, full service history, collectors item, never been dinged, unscratched, limited edition car?
"Oh, about 20% below recommended trade price, and that depends on the condition once we have a look at it"!
HUH? Did I miss something?? Obviously I did. The part when I went to the loo and the punk stole my stool!!!
Now go and eat it you dick head!!!
Anyhow, most times I blow my top, demand to see a manager, and get my way.
Sometimes I use the internet, and email the big boss at head office. That works sometimes.
Can also have the added benefit of getting you a freebie! Got me a couple of these already.
Lets see:- A circular saw, a R300.00 voucher at the lighting place, a Bondi Blu wrist watch for junior.... and some other less significant stuff.
On the other hand, I have found some who specialise in good service. The guys who did my house built in cupboards in the bedrooms, and all the kitchen cupboards. They just did the same for the apartment / flat.
And the guy who did the granite tops for the kitchen counters. Both good price, honest, on time, proffessional, and efficient. But they are far and few between.
Oh, and my building contractor. Great guy!!
Shit, we just lost power. There is a big electrical storm outside, and it just caused the lights in the neighbourhood to trip. If I look outside i can see the light across the valley. It's actually quite cool. Silence. Mmm, i feel a poem coming on.
