It's deepseated, this anger, it's cruel, unforgiving, it's pain
Is it anger, or is it fear?
I feel it, it's there, all the time
and yet, it's not.
It's explosive, always at the wrong time
always at the wrong person....
It's hurtful, it is it's severe
and yet.... It's not. is it?
Devouring my very being, creating a fear of ? I don't know
but it's there, always there.
I can't hide from it, I don't know it
I can't see it, so, is it?
It's a fear of the unknown, a fear of the known
Is this real? In my mind? living? dead?
It's irrational, conniving, lying
But is it anything?
It's me, now and then, and it's not!
It's Confusing, destructive, annoying
It hurts the one's I love
And yet, it's me!
It is me. It is fear, and it is
Within this mind, this being, this life
There is no control, not all the time
And it is..... It's me.
It is ME! And it's angry!!!!!!!!!!

ex-Souf Efriken vents..... it's true!
An old friend, and sometimes visitor to this blog, Solomonster, posted a very interesting view of life in Souf Efrika, as seen from the point of view of someone who emigrated from here 18 months ago.
I have copied (sans permission) and pasted it here for everyone else to read, as some of you may not read the comments posted, and others might be new to the site, and might not want to read the old stuff. However, this comment deserves front page, as it closely describes what is going on in our country, and also how ex-Souf Efrikans percieve life to be like here.
Thanx mate, hope you dont mind the plagiarism:-

Ehhhh - the peeano - I em sure only the whyte keys wehk coz the bleck wahns nevva wehk!
Ridiculous. People starving in the streets, and they waste money on that.
As for the...er...achievements in the last ten years, let's reflect:
- 1 in 3 people HIV positive: entire health system at risk of collapse due to burden of AIDS-related illness. Health minister curing AIDS with Beetroot and claiming aliens are manipulating other governments (would explain Dubya’s warmongering but I’d rather not go there…)
- Cape Town & Johannesburg vying for first & second place as "Murder Capital of the World" along with places like Caracas and Lagos
- White females have a one in two chance of being raped - for me with a wife and two daughters, statistically our family stands a good chance of having to go through that.
- Basic infrastructure breaking down: not enough police vehicles to respond to rampant crime, fire trucks without fuel, etc.
- Crime levels so bad the government place a moratorium on the publishing of crime statistics (let's hear it for a free press) because they know that if the people knew what was going on, they would probably revolt
- Residents living behind 8' walls with electric fencing, rabid dogs, burglar bars, armed response contracted companies monitoring home security systems
- Driving a BMW or Mercedes is taking your life into your own hands, making you a carjacking target
- 6-month old and younger babies being raped by men in the belief that it will cure them of HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases
- 2% of the working population pay tax – the rest are either shirking this responsibility or are not earning income
- Government clamping down on Gun licenses like crazy – yet for $40 you can rent an AK-47 Assault rifle from your nearest convenience shack in a township. Heck, they’ll even throw in the first 40-round Magazine free if you take it for two Bank robberies or more. How many banks are robbed with a licensed firearm in South Africa? Wake up guys....
- Corruption going all the way to the top, the Deputy President (now ex) up for bribery and rape, the former no doubt as a scapegoat to stop the investigation being taken one rung higher to the State President.
- Exactly what is happening to this Blog owner: Skilled people who are top performers are sidelined to make room for incompetents based on skin colour – calling it “Affirmative Action” to redress “Past Incongruities” means the few skilled people holding the economy together will get the shits and leave.
The previously disenfranchised masses are slowly coming to the conclusion that with D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y comes R-E-S-P-O-N-S-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y. They were promised heaven and earth pre 1994 elections, expecting all the wealth to somehow be siphoned off the whities and given to them. You have equal rights now, which includes the right to pay for your electricity and water just like the oppressive whities.
In summary, South Africa had the "Haves" and the "Have Nots". Now the "Haves" are either "Have mores" or are "Have left" (me) and the "Have Nots" are "Have less" – it’ll just take them a while to figure out they’ve been hoodwinked. Perhaps another “African Election” is pending.
Congratulations, Mbeki. Time to dust off the fiddle, Rome is smoldering.

Thanks for the vent.

Valentines... or not?
So late last year while visiting my brother at the coast we visited a local "show" which was taking place. Kind of show where hundreds of stalls go up, showing / selling anything from ice-creams to cars, houses etc. A place for businesses to diplay their offerings, and the populace to get out for the day and have some fun.
I drop my business card into a fish bowl (no it did not have any water in it) which was being used for this purpose to enter a competition. All u needed to do was give them name and contact number.
Later that night I get a call to say that I won first prize!!! A 2 night stay with breakfast at some fancy golf estate down the coast. Too damn far for me to go from where I live.
So I give the prize to my brother.
And he manages to get a booking over Valentines, the bum!!!
So last night I got the "Just calling to rub salt into the wounds"! call from him.
Seems they were having a good time. Very fancy place and all.
And I'm willing to bet he probably got laid!!!
THANX TO ME!!
Hehe, well, at least he got good use from it.
If u wanna see the place....

La Luta Continua.....
So I'm driving home last night after work. The much hated cellphone rings. It's HER! The headmistress from juniors school, and it can only mean he's in trouble again..... My heart sinks!
So, she was home after school when some boys parents called for her to go back to school. Seems when their son got home they noticed some pinch marks, including broken skin, around his neck. Seems like my son was pinching him in class. First question was "Where was the teacher"? Oh, seems she was there. And this boy allowed my son to pinch him without retaliating or telling the teacher? Something smells bad here.
Also, another parent has complained that her daughter has had some problems with junior. Seem that everyday after school she asks her kid, "So, how was school"? And the standard response is "He was pulling faces, he was teasing.... blah blah blah...."!
What a lot of crap. Either he likes her and does not know any other way of getting her attention, or she's spending too much time around him.
And finally, it seems he called the headgirl a bitch!
Damn... Got me on that one!!!!!
So we agree, I won't say anything to him last night. She will call him in this morning and address the issues, and we will be in touch later to see what's next.
I get home, don't say anything to him. Go to bed eventually, and discuss it with the princess.
She sez he was very stressed when she picked him up after school. They had a plain clothes day (normally wear school uniforms) cause of Valentines. He also decided to wear a pink cap. (It's fashionable among the older kids to wear pink)
So, all day the other boys were teasing him, calling him gay, etc,\. Now this gives a different view to the problem. Maybe that's why he pinched the other kid!!
Also, seems like he and the headgirl have been at each other all year. Her attitude since being elected headgirl really sucks. Very bossy, ordering them around etc. Now, he don't keep his mouth shut with such crap. It's been so bad their class teacher has separated them in class!!!
Seem like at some point he must have dropped the bad word, and someone heard him and reported it.
Shit!!!
Anyway, so this pm we will know more.... I'll have a chat with the HeadMistress, and then with junior... And take it from there.
The wife sez she can't wait for him to finish at primary school, so we can move him to high school, different venue, teachers, peers, etc. Can only be good for him.
Salagatle....!

Password, User name, log on's, etc.....
Damn, I nearly lost it all.
Got a new laptop today. They moved most of my stuff from the old one to this one. But what didn't come across was all the "hidden" stuff, like my auto logins etc. Especially the one for this site. And what with having to remember about 300 passwords, logins, etc. This one was gone.
However the Blog guys have a fantastic system and with their help I have recovered it all.
So I am back and blogging!!!
So, I'm thinking, maybe I should write a piece of code which can collate / store all my logins, user names, passwords ect., and which can connect to my cell phone and PDA and my wristwatch. That way I should always have any details I might need at hand!
Mmmm... Good idea, now where did I put that book
"Code for Idiots"...?!!!!
Later all! Salagatle

Travel, party, travel, swim, travel.....
So, Friday we left for the coast. We were supposed to go to Durban, but due to the massive accident on the highway, the fact that they hadn;t cleared it in 6 hours, the detour road was a single lane carrying way too much traffic, the weather (raining) and updates from friends who were there......... We went to Richards Bay instead.
Had a good drive down, covering the 720km in just over 6.5 hours.
My brother was seriously impressed as it happened to be his birthday as well, and he was so not expecting us.
Saturday was spent with the family, and helping with the birthday party preparations. This stared at about 1.00pm, and we left for Durban at about 5.15 pm. Got to the friends place at 7.15pm, visited for a couple of hours, and went to bed.
Up early Sunday, drove to the swim venue, Midmar dam. Traffic ok, and organisation on the site much improved this year.
Saw junior off at the start, and drove to the finish to wait for him.
Now it's an open water swim, across a dam, 1 mile (1620m). Last year he swam it in 30min 30 sec. We expected him to improve this year. From 25 minutes we start watching as each swimmer comes out of the wated. 30 minutes ...... Nothing. 32 minutes....? Nothing.
By 35 minutes into the race, I'm getting pretty stressed out. Come on, he's gotta be here somewhere. My cellphone rings. It's some friends who also got kids swimming. Their son swam a 23 miutes and place 16th overall. Their daughter swam 23.?? And placed 11 in the girls race. They have my son with them!!! Damn?!? How did he come out without us seeing him?
Anyway, we are happily reunited, and it seems he came out in 32 minutes. Don't know how we didn't see him, but alls well that ends well!! Turns out the weather played havoc this year. Winds were "off shore" and so the swimmers were being blown into deeper water, away from the finish line, hence the slower times!
Got his medal, the T-shirt... And we're off. Another 5 hour drive and we were home.
Damn long weekend it was.
Well done my boy, once again I am so proud of you! Keep it up!!!!
Typical scene at the start of the race. The participant are sorted by seeding (Previous times) and separated by cap colours. Fastest swimmers (red caps) go first, then blue caps, and so on. Junior swam in a blue cap this year.
